Dr Sonia Rocha

Dr Sonia Rocha is a Senior Research Fellow, Lecturer and Deputy-Head of The Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression within the College of Life Sciences. Sonia is originally from Portugal and completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Porto University and then a PhD in Zurich, Switzerland. After her PhD, she joined the group of Neil Perkins in the Biochemistry Department of the University of Dundee.

Unusually, she decided to start her research group in the same place as her postdoctoral position and although the quest to secure funding was difficult it was ultimately successful.

Sonia was recently awarded a very prestigious Senior Research Fellowship by Cancer Research UK.
